Full Version: New tool to enable raw Bayer mode on Windows

Dear Bayer enthusiasts :-),

We have just updated the How to enable raw streaming on Logitech webcams article to include a simple tool and source code to enable Bayer streaming for Windows in the same way that has already been possible on Linux.

Please read the article and the included ReadMe.txt carefully before using it. We do not guarantee support for this sample (or even that it works) but if you have questions we will obviously do our best to respond to them in these forums.

Cheers,
Martin
Martin,

thanks for the nice tool. I tried it on the Logitech S5500 and it works fine:

Found device: Logitech QuickCam S5500 [\\?\usb#vid_046d&pid_09a1&mi_00#6&bfcdabb&0&0000#{65e8773d-8f56-11d0-a3b9-00a0c9223196}\{bbefb6c7-2fc4-4139-bb8b-a58bba724083}]
Bayer mode successfully enabled (8 bits).

But after this switching, the Cam is dead when trying to use AmCap or the Logitech QuickCam panel or my application (based on Noël's StillCap library). Everything hangs until timeout, even your tool Bayer.exe. I tried the 8 and 10bpp mode and I had to unplug the Cam to reanimate the system. I'm working on Windows XP.

I've read your Readme.txt from the Bayer-zip and tried different resolutions, but without any success.

Can you give me a hint, what is the default resolution and frame-rate for this WebCam?

Thanks
Joerg
I've just run a quick test and it seems Bayer mode is not supported on this camera model, similar to the one mentioned in this thread. I'll make sure this information makes it into the camera list. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Thanks for the information. I hope, Logitech is working on updateing this camera-driver

Joerg
That is not something that can be changed in the driver but a limitation of the device. Traditionally this is more of an "accidental feature" and therefore doesn't receive much testing, but we'll try to keep an eye on making it work properly in new devices!
