I've seen here that the max framerate at 1600x1200 is supposed to be 5 Hz. But for some reason, with good lightning I get 15 Hz! What's up? Is gen 3 faster, or have I in some way enabled a lower resolution that then gets interpolated to 1600x1200?

My product number is 860-000109, and I've captured the video with QuickCapture on XP.
After looking a bit closer on the videos, I see that both 1.3Mpix and 2Mpix videos captured in QuickCapture are upscaled a factor two in each direction.

What do I have to do to get the real resolution?
Yes, that would explain it. If you use any other DirectShow based application, though, you should see the real frame rate. AMCap might be a good start to see the real frame rates.
Thanks!
Indeed, AMCap gives the expected framerates, and with a sharper image. And if I write my own capture program, I suppose it will work in a similar way to AMCap.
Definitely. The QuickCam application chooses to record videos from a lower resolution for performance reasons. If your application selects a high resolution (like AMCap) then that's what you'll get.
