RE: QuickCam E2500

Ok, now the image that darkens instantly after power on problem is fixed in Fedora 12 Rawhide (2.6.31 kernel).
The other minor issues are still there (like the huffman code problem), but little by little support is progressing. Smile

RE: QuickCam E2500

The JPEG frames are definetly still corrupted. I've had a brief look at the code (in 2.6.31.5), and have looked at the traces via usbmon and gspca debug and what's coming into gpsca is making it into the output frame just fine (sans the 18 byte frame header "comment"), which infers what's coming off the camera is either corrupted/nonstandard/swisscheese.

Hiding these corrupted frames behind a V4L1 translation layer is not a winning strategy. I want this blinken thing to work properly.

I'm willing to have a deeper look at this, IF i can get of a software register level guide for the ZC0302 (or something compatible). I have a feeling that the linux drivers are putting it into some odd mode that breaks it's JPEG encoding. It certainly works flawlessly on windows.

So, does anyone have any ZC0302 app notes?

Try asking mrubli in a PM, probably he can help you. If he doesn't reply (however I think he will) try contacting Hans de Goede:

Yes, please contact Hans instead. He has the documentation and (given enough time) should be able to help.

RE: QuickCam E2500

Greetings, I'm hoping that someone here could point me in the right direction, I have read several posts on this and other forums but I just can't seem to get this cam to work. I am not very familiar with compiling drivers from source etc. I seriously need step by step instructions.
Thanks.
